Poem Art: “Question” by May Swenson
I drew this in response to “Question” by May Swenson. The question is about what happens to us after we die, when our bodies are gone. One of the metaphors for our bodies was a faithful hound dog, and so I drew the spirit reaching out to the hound, as if saying “Wait! No, come back!”
Poem Art: “Love Calls Us to the Things of This World” by Richard Wilbur
I painted this watercolor in response to “Love Calls Us to the Things of This World” by Richard Wilbur, who died just a few days after we read the poem.
Poem Art: “Our Lady of the Flood,” by Alison Peligrin
Here is my watercolor of “Our Lady of the Flood.” The author wrote it in response to the flooding in Louisiana last summer and people’s efforts to help each other.
Poem Art: “The Good Life,” by Tracy K. Smith
Here is my drawing for Tracy K. Smith’s “The Good Life”. I used my new soft pastels that I got for my birthday to do this drawing, and I love how smoothly they blend. They are so much fun to work with! You can read the poem here.
Poem Art: “Shattered,” by Rachael Boast
A drawing from last spring. Response to Rachael Boast’s poem “Shattered,” in colored pencil. You can read the poem here.
